A little bit about me

Meg on the FairweatherI am the Earth Science teacher at West Bronx Academy. I have been teaching at WBA since Fall 2015 and prior to that, I taught at a middle school, also in the Bronx, for one year. Before teaching in public school, I taught geology, environmental science and computer mapping as an adjunct faculty member at community colleges, liberal arts colleges and a university. But I was never full-time as an adjunct instructor and I worked for five years as a geologist in environmental consulting and for 12 years I was a computer mapping technologist at a small college, teaching professors how to teach with different technology. I've always wanted to teach science full-time to younger people, to share my enthusiasm for the outdoors, geology, weather, space, and the ocean, and now I can!

Kayaking on the Delaware Water Gap
Some of the things I like to do when I am not teaching are to go on hikes, travel, go kayaking, spend time with friends, take photos of flowers and (yes) geology, jog from my house, listen to podcasts and go to the gym.

I have a B.S degree in geology from California State University, East Bay (1992), a M.S. degree in structural geology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1994), and a M.A.T. in teaching earth science (7th to 12th grade) from the American Museum of Natural History (2015).
