Ms. Wanda Ritter
About Myself:
Hello! My name is Wanda Ritter, and I am a Special Education/ Learning Specialist Teacher for grades 6 and 7. I have been teaching since 2005 and have been at WBA for the last 3 years. I was a paraprofessional since 1998, when I first became interested in teaching. I have 2 Master of Science Degrees in Special Education and one as a Reading Specialist. I have 22 years experience with teaching students in middle school in schools in the Bronx, where I have also lived most of my life. I am looking forward to teaching all my Self-Contained and ICT students the academic and socio-emotional communication skills they will need to be successful in today's Global Society!
Additionally, I will be teaching remotely only until December 31, 2020, so you can reach me by email anytime! I will be constantly monitoring your child's progress and providing outreach and feedback to parents, guardians, and students at least once a week, usually on Fridays. Thank You! Together we can make this happen!!
Interests and Hobbies-
I enjoy being in nature, hiking, reading, and listening to music. I am always trying to learn new ways to engage students with meaningful and interactive lessons, especially through technology.
Academia/ Degrees-
I attended Mercy College where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 2007, then on to Manhattan College, where I received my Masters in Special Education in 2014, and earned my Reading Specialist Master's Degree at NOVA Southeastern University, online in 2017.
